Defeat Annoying “Open Link in New Window” in Safari
I am absolutely sick of link that opens in a new window and the new Safari 3 has just the solution — “Merge All Windows” — anytime there are more than one window of Safari open, just select from the menu:
Window -> Merge All Windows
Safari will consolidate all open windows into tabs in just one window. To execute this even faster, create a keyboard shortcut:

Hi Billy, do you have the “Open links from applications:” preference (in the General tab) set to “in a new tab in the current window”? That would reduce the number of windows you have drastically.
Regardless, the Merge command IS pretty cool, thanks for pointing it out, I hadn’t noticed it yet (probably because I still use Firefox).

Hi Jim, I do have that preference turn on, and I did use the single-window trick for Safari 3.1 from here: http://www.tuaw.com/2008/03/21/terminal-tip-safari-3-1-brings-true-one-window-mode/
